FRUIT KEBABS

Prepare fruit as close to party time as possible to keep fresh.  Bananas should be done as close to serving time as possible.  Squeeze lemon juice on apples so they don’t turn brown.  Lay everything out on trays, so you arrange a nice pattern with colors.  Try to choose fruits that have different colors & cut everything to a similar size.

Use any combination of the following to make colourful dessert kebabs (kabobs :)

Strawberries, Apples, Bananas, Kiwis, Marshmallows
Oranges (cut in cubes), Tangerines, Mangos
Papaya, Pineapple - fresh or canned (chunks)
Blackberries (large enough to fit on sticks)
Watermelon (cubes or balls)
Honeydew melon, Cantaloupe
Apricots (cut in half – pit removed)

 

 

 

TIP: Some fruits, such as pineapple, star fruit, and banana can also be grilled on the bar-b-q.  Soak the wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before grilling.  Just brush the fruit with a marinade of butter & lemon juice before grilling.  Grill over medium heat, a few minutes each side.
