Lotus Dance

The name of this dance comes from a poem describing the quaint, graceful beauty of the lotus flower. This dance won first place in Senior Chinese Classical Dance division in 8th Taoli Competition.

China is a very ancient civilization with many longstanding traditions dating back centuries or even thousands of years. It is now the most populous country on earth. China's cultural influence has extended across all of East Asia, and is now extending to North America and other countries as well. Many Asian countries have adopted their writing systems, customs and religion to some degree.

China has had a long history of artists, poets, writers and musicians. Dance has had its influence from many areas and sources in China. Traditional dance styles are often combined with Western influences now. Chinese acrobatics are world renown, and acrobatics are often brought into their performances.
