Our Dance Performances

Here are some of our own Dance Performances

Kids dance performance videosThis section features some of Katrina and Sloane's award winning/favourite dance performances. There are more dance performances from teachers, friends and people we admire in the individual sections – like jazz, tap & modern.

Many hours of practice go into the preparation of a competitive dance number. Some dancers can have up to 20 dance numbers to learn, memorize and perform during one dance season.

Many of the same skills that are used in dance are used in figure skating, cheerleading and gymnastics.  Good skills to build on are flexibility, timing, coordination, balance, strength and control.

There is a lot of technique required to really dance properly.  A well trained and skilled dancer will make it look effortless – but don’t be fooled.  A lot of hard work and training went into the dance.

Competitive dancers can’t just go through the motions – they are expected to perform, and facial expression and commitment will count towards marks.

Dance performances also require costumes and properly done hair and makeup.  If you will be performing on stage, check out our videos on doing hair and makeup for stage.  If you are in a group dance, it is important that all members of the group coordinate costumes and hair.

Enjoy some of our dance routines you can find on these pages and "stay tuned" for the new dance season videos coming up.
